Do the current ID cards work with getting the discounted rail tickets?

Haven't got my travelcard but I have my student ID. The only thing I'm worried about is it doesn't have an expiry or issue date on it.

Worked fine for me last week, and I'm visibly eight years older than the pic in my ID.

Depends on the inspector. I tried it on the Luas and they almost fined me for not having a travel card. I played ignorant and it was fine, but I wouldn't try that again.

Train might be different but they used to look for a valid travel card when I last used it.

That tells you all you need to know. They had an offer on over the Summer which apparently has been extended indefinitely so you can use your college ID!

Irish Rail are grand with an NUIG card, as are Bus Eireann.

Luas is run by a different company, they require a travelcard for the discount, Irishrail do not.
