Saorview sharing issue

    Hi all,

I have Saorview coming through a roof aerial and a sky dish.

I want to share the Saorview signal across multiple TV’s – I bought a 4-way splitter but when I hook everything up, the picture “shares” to the second TV but the picture is frozen (on both TV’s). The signal splitter isn’t one you plug in / no power. I did the same with a “return” from the sky dish as a test and it works perfectly.

If I purchase one of the splitters you plug in, will it work?

Apologies if I’m using the wrong terminology and thanks in advance

Get a professional, anyone who splits a satellite signal obviously hasn't a clue what they're at.

There was no need to mention the satellite dish if your query is solely in regard to splitting the terrestrial signal.

Anyhow, it would seem your Saorview signal isn't strong enough to cope with splitting & will require amplification: a distribution amplifier fitted in place of your 4-way splitter should do the job. How was your system configured before you added the splitter?

It was connected directly to the aerial - the amplifier makes sense, thank you very much. Appreciate it.

If you already have a splitter; a single high power booster with only 2 connections (in and out) might be cheaper and better. Your signal is quite low to start with so I would get a booster with at least 20dB gain.

Sometimes boosters can make things worse. Ideally fit a better aerial if possible. With a good aerial a booster may not be needed.

Just wondered where the Sky return fitted in. IIRC, you had another thread here a while back, seeking advice on combining the Saorview signal with the Sky box RF.
