Does anyone know will the Samsung Chromebook connect to the college network without any awkward MAC address etc workarounds?

It should be possible. It will involve changing the browser's user agent string to "Linux" and going through the Linux steps for setting up the Wifi instead of the Windows or Mac ones. I have no experience with Chrome OS, so I can't guide further, but it should be Googleable. Someone else will probably tell you the exact details, anyway.

    **Edit
Since Chrome OS is Linux based you may not even have to change the user agent, but I don't know.

I'm having difficulty connecting to college wifi with my ipad, I keep getting the message that my passcode is wrong. Ive tried every possible passcode...what is this elusive secret they're looking for? Has anyone else been able to connect with an iOS device?

A friend of mine has his iPad (Gen 1) set up to use TCDwifi and I can use mine (iPad Mini), though I use eduroam. For TCDwifi you need a browser like Sleipnir to spoof your user agent to "Linux" and you can go through the Linux setup steps. Make sure you are using WPA2 Enterprise, PEAP and MSCHAPV2 (though I can't remember how configurable this actually is in the wireless settings).

...or you can just connect normally since TCDwifi supports iOS now (writing this in college using my iPod Touch)

Oh really? Didn't know that had happened yet. I knew they were doing a pilot program, but this must be fairly recent as there was no support a month ago when I set up my iPad Mini, as far as I know.
