New job confused about payslip

    Hi there, just got my first payslip and am really confused and worry. In previous job I was on 32k a year and I was bringing home every month about 2,300 euro. In my new job Im on 40k a year and for first month got 2,412 euro!! The breakdown was as follows:
    Gross pay 28,702.16
    Taxable pay same as above
    Tax credit td 4,664
    Cut off td 38,375.37
    Tax paid 1,664.04
    Ins weeks 09
    Prsi er tp 358.33
    Prsi er td 410.64
    Net pay 2,412.13

    Salary 3,333.33
    Tax This period 571.81 cumulative 1,664.04
    Prsi ee this period 111.29 cumulative 111.29
    Usc this period 238.10 cumulative 1,384.71

    Gross pay 3,333.33 total deds. 921.20

    Please someone help, surely can be bringing almost same amount of money when there is a difference of about 8k between previous salary and new salary!

    Are your tax credits right? Do these tax credits match what's on your p45 and new tax credit cert from revenue?

    Were you in your first job for all of this year or did you start it in say March or April?

    That sort of scenario can make your net pay in the first job appear higher than normal because you get the benefit of a full years tax credits and standard rate cut-off point even though you start getting paid midway through the year.

    I've a tax calculator available for download (see my signature below or it's also on my profile page) which might help you to figure out the normal amount.

    op I have checked your details given and you should take home €2,739.04 on a normal month. You may have underpaid in a previous job and this was corrected by taking more tax this month, which means next month you should be getting what i've stated above.
