HD connection to motherboard cracked

A couple of days ago I opened up my laptop (Sony Vaio) to clear a big hunk of dust that had accumulated in the fan. I had a bit of trouble with one particular screw, which took a lot of effort to remove, at the hard drive opening.

Once I removed the dust and reassembled the laptop, my screen displayed the error 'Operating System Not Found'. I looked into the laptop again and found that in the process I had accidentally cracked the port that connects the HD (2.5" SATA) to the motherboard, so the pins aren't making contact.

I placed the HD into a USB enclosure, and used BIOS to prioritize booting from external device, but Windows 7 doesn't seem to be booting up correctly and System Repair isn't finding any errors - although I can see that all the data on my HD remains.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to alternate methods of booting up my HD - and also if anyone knew if repairing the port to the motherboard will be a tricky job? Any assistance welcomed.

you'd be better off replacing the whole motherboard
