UPC picture is square on widescreen telly

    Hi,

Just got a UPC box delivered and I connected to all up. Box configured and signal now comes through.
The problem is that I have a widescreen TV (not a fancy, flatscreen plasma job but a fairly old...well maybe 7 years.. BEKO widescreen CRT number).

The picture shows up as ...well...square....i.e. it doesn't fill the widescreen dimensions.
I'm guessing this is something absurdly simple to fix. Is there a menu in the UPC box that adjusts to the screen size of the telly or is there something in the telly that needs to be tweaked?

    Thanks.

Yes, press the 'Menu' button on the UPC remote, somewhere there (might be 'settings') you set the screen to widescreen (16:9) and on your TV remote set the picture format to 'Auto'.

Edit: Menu/Settings/TV Settings and set the first option (TV Format) to 'Widescreen'. If the TV is a seven year old BEKO then I'm guessing that you're connected using a SCART cable so make sure the next option 'Picture Quality' is set to 'High (RGB)'.
