I just received notification of my driving test for 08th January at 15:45 in Rathar. I'm a bit nervous because it'll be starting to get dark at that stage and was wondering if anyone has done their test out there at that time?

    Thanks :)

    Hi!

Did my test on the 6th of December at 2.55 so not far off your time even though I suspect it will be quite dusky if not dark at your scheduled test. I would suggest turning your lights on immediately as you start the engine so you don't forget. A good time to ensure they are on is when the tester is standing in front of your car checking the indicators. Overall though I wouldn't worry. I hadn't driven much in dark/evening before my test but found it in some ways easier. Rathgar test route is marked by narrow roads and poor visibility, with the dark though you'll see the lights of the cars long before you see the cars themselves. My test was also marked by heavy rainfall which in fact made the lights more reflective and quite easy to exit where you can't see properly. Watch out for cyclists though as they won't have the advantage of lights!

    Good luck!

    H
