Car Suggestions

Having driven my trusty 2000 Toyota Avensis into the proverbial ground, the sad day has come when it's time for me to put the old thing into retirement. Bought it 2nd hand in 2006 and it's given me 6 hassle-free years of driving but it's starting to groan and grunt and I feel it would take a big investment to bring it back to life.

So, any suggestions as to what car I should purchase next? I'm not a big motor-head and am just looking for something reliable.

Do 30-40 miles a day with the odd trip 'down the country' (300 miles return) with work (maybe once every 2 weeks). Need a bit of space in the back to throw the kids/football gear/bikes etc. into. Have 7k in hard Irish Euros to invest.

Based in County Louth so looking for something in the general area.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated..
