Hi, I'm restoring a 1980 series 3 LWB and need new tyres. I believe the original size is 7.50 x 16 but I would prefer something a bit wider if it's possible. Any advice would be great. Thanks

235/85R16 is the modern equivalent of the 7.50x16 and are a bit wider. If your budget is healthy, BFGoodrich ATs are about the best but there's a huge choice.

You could go wider like 265/75R16 but they probably wouldn't fit your existing rims, tyre and rim packages from the UK are good value though. You'd need a decent offset or wheel spacers or your turning circle will be far worse than it already is!

Go in to Easons and pick up a copy of LRO or LRM, they are full of tyre adverts for Paddocks, Craddocks, Silverline etc.

TBH if your 109 is anywhere original, the 7.50s suit it well. You can get full sets of new Avon Rangemasters on new LR rims cheap on ebay as take off from new vehicles Getting them here is expensive though, I got two for my Rapier trailer for £50 but cost another £50 for delivery!

Thanks for the info. Think I'll go for the 7.50's although they're a bit expensive at €110 each. Cheers.
