Browsing around the Creative sale, i saw this. If you want to buy these on Amazon, works out at €130.
The sound off these is one of, if not, the best i have heard from a portable music player. (Actually, i'm going to say it is the best, as i can't think of one that is as good).

It comes with 8GB, but also takes a Micro SD card, so you could add a 32GB card.
Creative Zen Touch 2 + Creative D80 Wireless Speaker €89.99 Delivered.

Similar deal if you want to buy separately and a slightly better speaker refurbished.
    Creative ZEN Touch 2 8GB Version €59.99
Creative D100 Portable Wireless Speaker [Refurbished] €29.99
Be touched by absolute wireless enjoyment

The ZEN line of portable media players has long been associated with the highest quality in audio playback, and the Creative ZEN Touch 2 Android media player continues to uphold this standard. But that's not all it offers. What makes this player truly stand out from the rest is that you can stream music wirelessly to compatible Bluetooth® speakers or headphones such as Creative's ZiiSound D5 and WP-300, and surf the Internet too.
Featuring a built-in 2-megapixel camera and wireless LAN capability, you can capture high-resolution photos and videos and upload them to your favorite social media sites. Also, stay in touch with friends via email with high-speed Wireless LAN and listen to your favorite music all at the same time - even on the move.
With ZEN Touch 2 being the first ZEN to incorporate the Android 2.2 operating system, you can now download a wide range of apps and games from the Internet. It also supports auto-rotate and double-tap screen zoom features to make viewing photos and playing games even more fun.
Available in a choice of either 8GB or 16GB built-in storage capacities, the ZEN Touch 2 also comes with a microSD slot for storing even more entertainment!

Very tempted by that refurb speaker. Had something similar from a Chinese brand, which was surprisingly good, and I'd imagine this would be even better.

It's a great price. It sells on Dabs at €57.88 and Amazon at £42.99 (€53.11) and has great reviews (on amazon).

Well worth it, especially considering it is Creative Certified Refurbished.

Yup, took the plunge. My Chinese one did a couple of years of good service, but would only get about 10 hours out of 4xAA, and looks to have had smaller drivers in it. This will be appreciated at any festivals in the coming years.

I was thinking about getting the Zen Touch 2 but decided against it.
It has a resistive screen so its not as good as a capacitive one,the version of android is old ,it has no Play Store ,and reading reviews its very unstable and locks up alot.

I was planning on getting one just to connect up to a stereo system in the kitchen and use it for playing mp3's and internet radio but I think I may get a cheap 7 inch tablet instead.

Sound of this as an MP3 player is way better than anything you would get from a cheap tablet.
Android 2.2 is fine for this. It has buttons, so capacitive screen, is irrelevant.
It doesn't lock up as of the new firmware (over a year ago).

I can't explain enough, how good the sound out of this is. If you plan on using it as a connection to a cheap stereo system in the kitchen, then get this. It is the quality of a high end stereo.

Loads more i could say, but i'm beginning to sound like a rep for creative..

Well worth it if you want a good sound, high quality Music/Media Player.

Any idea if this will work with an Ipod touch 2?

I've read in places that bluetooth in the Ipod 2 only supports headphones.

    Cheers

I'm sure the AUX input jack would work. Probably a bit better sound quality too.

I want it for the wireless

Is there any way of connecting my iPod touch or ipad to a docking station (i already own a sony docking station but it's not wireless) wirelessly? As in get a bluetooth accessory that connects to the docking station?

    Cheers

On the bottom of the features..
    fea10.gifWireless transmitter for your iPod2
Plug in the Creative BT-D5 Bluetooth transmitter (sold separately) into any 30-pin iPod2 and instantly stream music wirelessly to the Creative D100 or other great Creative wireless speakers!

It says that's it's compatible with iPhone 4, why would you need it as the iPhone has Bluetooth??

Whenever i use the Bluetooth wireless streaming on my headunit in the car from my iPhone it compresses the audio and there is a clear reduction in sound quality.

    Presumably this does the same?

The speaker on it's own is €39 from Harvey Norman. Reviews suggest sound quality is good for the price, so I'm not sure if the OPs rhapsodising is warranted!

Good stocking filler, not sure if the PMP is worth the money though.

I have absolutely no need for that speaker, but I'm strongly considering buy it. How would it sound compared to an x-mini?

My speaker has landed in work, box is fecking massive. Will post back with opinions this evening.

Has anyone got any opinions about the D200?

It's available refurbished for €50 here, and I'm wondering is the 30 quid extra worth it over the D100?

No battery power option on the d200, which would make it worth less IMO.

My laptop speakers are terrible. Can I use these speakers to replace my laptop ones? Like over wifi or bluetooth or whatever?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,063 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Good idea B_Man, never though of that, would be interested to know that myself. Id prefer to plug them in as USB though, anyone know if thats possible?

Gave it a listen with some good bassy funky music, I'm pretty damn impressed. Looking forward to breaking it in at the next beach party.

Which one did you get? The D100 from the OP's post? If so where are these sent from and how much is the postage?

Yup, the D100. Not sure where they're sent from, but it only took a few days to arrive so can't have been too far. Postage was 4 euro.
