Yesterday my car started to do something a little worrying. When I turn the ignition the car sounds as if I was turning it while it was already running. If I try it again it works ok. doesn't happen all the time but a least 1 in 4

    Any ideas - Madza 6

    Problems with starter.

I'm not sure how to describe it, but it look like that little gear which should attach to flywheel when you try to start, doesn't put the full pressure against it, and teeth are rubbing between starter gear and flywheel.

You will most likely need to get starter fixed or a new one if this occurs often.

I have a similar problem with my '03 Ford Mondeo. Does anyone know would the car fail the NCT because of this? And is it expensive to get fixed?
