Terrible pressure on Mira mixer shower

Just bought a house that seems to have early to mid 1990s era central heating, hot water tank/immersion and a Mira mixer shower over the bath. House is from the very early 1970s but would have had storage heating and likely an immersion only tank, the current one can take heat from the retrofitted OFCH.

I have no idea what Mira unit it is unfortunately - its on its own, not attached to the bath taps, has the control dials on the wall and the head above with the pipes running in the wall/behind tiles.

The pressure from the shower is BRUTAL and as far as I can see, its the cold that's the main problem; if its pushed over to cold only there's little more than a dribble out.

Is there a chance there's some blockage on the cold feed in to the mixer or any other likely problems with it? I can't check if its been like that for a while as the previous owner is dead...

Just realised that there is a model number on the mixer, its a Mira 88. Don't have my glasses on in the shower...

Googling suggests there's no filters on this unit so I'm going to go up in the attic and look for crap around the outlet pipe from the tank. It may have been retrofitted wonkily to the original tank as the shower is definitely newer than the house (Mira parts directory says the 88 is 1984 at oldest, house is 1972)

The Mira 88 is a manual shower valve, it has no filters in it, its unrestricted, first thing to do is remove the hose and or the head and check your pressure, if its ok then the outlet is your problem, replace the hose/ head, if the pressure is not better eith the outlet disconnected you have a blockage or debris in the valve or pipework, this will require you removing the flow cartridge and clean it out, if you are going to do this its worth getting a service kit from Modern Plant 01 4591344

Just to follow up, the cause of this was completely untraceable without taking the system (and my house - have to replaster the landing now...) half apart.

Whoever installed the shower had taken the feeds off the bath taps and had got a blob of solder in a union about halfway down the length of the bath (its on the opposite wall to the taps). Limescale had built up behind this. Got better after blasting compressed air down the pipe from the shower end - moved some of the scale I guess - and fully rectified after replacing that crapped up section of pipe with a compression union.

Did the service kit when I had it open, might as well have as the seals etc were >20 years old. Fairly crusty inside but not the cause.
