What's peoples Take on these cameras? Anyone got one of them, how durable are they?
How do the specs stand up to ordinary cameras? The look like they tick a lot of boxes.

I think i'm going to put it on my Santa list, just looking for some opinions. There's places I won't and can't take my Canon (like the water and racetrack) and i'm thinking this might be perfect.

Is there any Irish camera shops stocking them in Dublin?

Depends what you want it for, I have had a Hero2 and a Hero. Ill probably keep my Hero2 and get a Hero3 as well.

Loads of places sell them but I dont think Black's have made it to Europe yet except as direct imports.

Conns Cameras would be my usual spot for buying go pro stuff Great outdoors, Birmingham Cameras and 53 Degrees North sell them.

My initial take on the Hero3 Black is its buggy as a hell ATM. Its AWB looks terrible in a lot of light and its prone to locking up. These are software issues so should be corrected soon.

GoPro will go anywhere and take a hell of a pounding and come out unscathed. They like sunlight, which is why all the really nice GoPro vids are blue skies.

I use my GoPro constantly. Adventure races, skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, climbing etc. The day of my wedding I used it to timelapse the evening. I have so much footage and photos I havent the time to edit it all!!

The wifi remote has made it a lot more useful. The app is semi useful. I reckon the Black is going to eat batteries and ill be getting the battery extending pac and 2 spare batteries.

I have a heap of videos here

The Vids look cool that leap of faith looked scary:), I'll be using it for more of less the same things, diving, motor x, mountain biking and general tom foolery.

I didn't know Lightroom now does video i've lightroom 2, is it easy enough touch up the videos in it?

Lightroom 4 is very limited in what it can do with video. For that timelapse I edited the photos, exported them then assembled them into a timelapse. It can do colour correction and sharpening etc which is handy but doesn't replace having an editing app. GoPro offer a few one called CinieForm though so you can work on a budget.

Thing to remember about go pros is you never just buy the camera. You will end up buying all the different mounts and bits to get the shots you want, will cost you a fortune but its worth it :-D

Agree. While its a nice camera its just another step in evolution. Should be priced €350 tops for the Black Edition, Silver around €260 and White around €200 in my opinion.

There bundling in the wifi remote which is €80. Very annoying if you want to or more blacks editions you end uo with useless extra remotes.

Spare batteries for the Hero3 are due to land in Ireland tomorrow (Thursday). Hero3 (Black editions) won't be back in until the New Year.
Hero3 Silver, White and Hero2's are available in all good camera shops!

Well got my camera and have been testing it out a bit disappointed really the hero2 let's you use a iPad and iMovies to edit it which is the easiest way I think the hero3 is not supported by the iPad and you can Import the vids but can't use iMovies also the app for smart phones and iPad really Pointless all you can do is adjust the settings of the camera which I can do with the camera or the remote you can't even watch a video on it????? I'm off the South Africa on the 6 th of January shark diving that's why I got it I hope the video it captures makes up for the other failings !!!!!
