You've heard of DoneDeal haven't you?

I think I've seen about 2-3 websites now remarkable similar to yours that javent come to anything. What do you offer that they or more importantly DoneDeal doesn't.

Would agree with Bbam - think you might be too late... :(

    But - feedback...
Why do i need to create an account to place an Ad?
Then, after registering (which is always a pain, and you will lose loads of people a this step) it asks me to login again (why cant it auto log me in after creating the account?)
The UI for placing an ad is clunky and not very user friendly...
Your site is / will be plastered with ads, and it doesn't have a very easy / attractive look and feel to it...

Sorry - but I think donedeal have both the market and the simpler site... :(

Why are you limiting yourself to just machinery after all it wouldn't be a big effort to do everything.
Also the filtered links don't do much at the moment and they need to work also you need to make sure the person placing the ad gets it into the right category.
Might be no harm to just do a blatant copy of the donedeal website/layout and methods.

    Oh? Do you?

Maybe there is an account setup as part of putting up the item for sale, but you are not presented with a 'you must setup an account first' process...
(As far as I remember, but, to be honest, it's a while since I put anything in donedeal)

Thanks to all for your replies.

Yes I have heard of donedeal, and use it often. I also think it is a great site. We are building this site obviously to compete on the machinery section, and will give it a try and see how we get on, as they say nothing ventured noting gained. If i had the attitude that done deal was the only site to buy and sell i wouldn't be done this. Competition is always healthy.

I appreciate all the suggestions and a good point was made on registering.

We are limiting our site to the 9 categories as these are the areas I know and understand.

An other suggestion as say will be appreciated.

So you have no business model to lever your site above a long, well established, more basic, user friendly website. Seriously, your business plan is throw it up there and see what happens ?
    Time and money wasted so.

People will not change their online habits just to support you. See the way DD broke the mould and virtually wrecked Buy and Sell overnight.
What can you offer that DD doesn't. If you can't throw out a list of stuff here then your dead in the water and showing you have no understanding of how web business works.

Thanks you for you comment bbam. We want to advertise machinery and make it as user friendly as possible this is why I asked for peoples comments before going live with it.

Yes it is going to be hard to compete with donedeal, but our aim is to get ads up soon with the help of companies that we deal with. Many have offered their support. Our advantage at the moment is advertising will be free. We have an advertising plan, and we will gain experience as we go along. This is a new site and a new business to us, we will have to learn as we go a long. As my first question was, I would appreciate any comments on the site not how we advertise it.
