Holiday Pay

Is there a requirement on the employer to get all holiday pay owed (if not taken) at the end of the year? I have requested holidays twice and have yet to even received a holiday leave form. I work part time and have worked there 7 months without taking a day holiday to date. however, today a colleague informed me that we loose our holiday pay if we don't take it. is this possible?
where i worked previously, it was the policy to pay holiday pay twice yearly if one did not take holidays. calculating the 8% method i believe i have aprox 6.75 days.
this would be disastrous to loose (as i have been counting on it to pay second half of uni fees)

If it is true that employers are entitled to write off holiday pay, i believe i should have been approached about this.

Hi Renno, Hey everyone, new to this, but I also want to know about holiday pay, I too have been working for the last 6 months part time, and as of yet havn't taken any holidays whatsoever, i know that im entitled to 8% of my hours worked to date. Basically I want to know, how it works and what I have to do to get the ball rolling. Do i need to fill in a form? ( havn't had to apply for holiday pay before). And also how long it takes to get the holiday pay, as I would love to have it for xmas. And the last thing I would like to know is, do I necessarily need to take the actual holidays off, as im only working weekends. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK they don't have to give you pay in lieu of you not taking the days

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping it would only be a matter of emailing the wages dept of the company I work for and arranging to meet them to fill out form or whatever. I think im entitled to some holiday pay for the hours Iv accumulated whilst working part time for them. Sorry im new to all this, so looking for as much info as possible. Thanks again
