    Hi All,

Finally got a road bike (gifted from a friend, knew there was a reason for him being best man at my wedding).

Scott 509 with full Ultegra and Aksiums relatively low mileage.

What's my checklist for getting it in shape?

The brakes are pretty soft even though the pads and rims both look fine.

Mech was drying out from lack of use, so I've lubed it and begun regular oiling.

Any hints on tuning up the brakes?

    Am I missing anything?

Fitting wise I've flipped the stem so my knees no longer hit the drops, saddle height has a slight bend in my knee, same as I have on my commuter but still feels a bit weird in drops.

    Also, road bikes are awesome!
