Hi All, my dad has an old sky box with a new HD TV and is not happy with the picture. If I buy him a "new" box with a hdmi connection, switch cards over and connect up the box with a hdmi cable - will this work?

You will need to ring sky to re-pair the card to the box, U will also need a quad lnb put on the dish and a second cable brought down to the box from the dish if you wish to use the full record features etc.

Current price to upgrade box and have all work done would be €109 if your dad has only ever had a std box.

However most channels will look the same unless he upgrades to the HD pack, this will bring the upgrade price down to €30 but his monthly bill would increase by €15 per month.

However, BBC1, ItV, Ch4 and rte2 will be available on the box in HD without taking the hd pack so the €109 would be what I would recommend.

How can I get the €109 price?

At the moment I have a white sky + box.

I have checked online and the price for me to change from the white sky+ box to the Sky+HD box is 259! (199 + €60 setup)

You cant as u have already got a reduced price sky plus box upon signup, if you take the Hd pack they will give u the hd box for €3o but ur bill will increase by €15 per month for a period of 12 months after which u could cancel the hd pack.
