Two questions ... Is the casino over the village inn still operating and if so who owns it?

It's still operating anyway. I don't know who owns it. Wasn't Coonan involved originally.

would that be coonan our mayor?
is it true that they give free alcohol to patrons or is that a wild slur on the establishment?

It is illegal in Ireland to sell alcohol where gambling is permitted so giving away alcohol is normal in casinos.

on that I wonder can you give alcohol away to people who are already twisted? whatever the law on booze and gambling its morally pretty low, so I wonder if coonan is an investor in this casino is it acceptable that someone of low moral standing is suitable to be mayorof our town, no laughing anyone!!

The mayor of our town isn't and wasn't Coonan, think you're getting confused with Malcolm Noonan

How can you say an investor or owner of a casino is of low moral standing? Just because you think gambling and alcohol are questionably moral, doesn't mean the rest of us do. Secondly, it isn't John Coonan, it's his son and it is still registered as Flush Poker Club, Patrick St business centre, Upper Patrick St. Kilkenny. Honestly, some people will take any opportunity to have a pop at a politician.

I have no idea about local politicians, and the one in question might be a tool, I have no idea, but it's fairly obvious this whole thread is a dig at one of them. OP asking a question about who is involved in ownership when they clearly already know the answer.

If you want to voice opinion of a politician why dress it up as something else?

I should've spotted that, there's probably exemptions for horses and dogs.

John Coonan has long been at daggers drawn with John McGuinness, despite (or possibly because of) them being from the same political party. Surely this is a point in the man's favour.

For the most part when i see drunk lads getting more booze at a poker table i thank **** that idiots and their money are easily parted.

well I was unsure as to the ownership of the kip, however ch has cleared that one up , I did suspect he was involved but it turns out he has nada to do with it , its his son so no connection
look really its not about the morals of the place its the moral authority of its owner that i was curious to delve into. as regarding his spat with the great white hope , well i wish him well with that.

I don't think young Coonan is involved in it anymore.

I know someone who went in there fairly full one night and was refused drink, and offered tea/coffee and a sandwich instead.

You excuse for "concern" was alcohol being available where there was gambling, not the time at which it's served. What's your real agenda?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 kk23

well the unmasking of people who wear the chains of deputy mayor and wish the lesser than them a happy christmas while wrecking socail havoc, if thats not obvious to you , then whats your agenda ?

Was it a secret who the deputy mayor was?

You're going to have to help me out here. What does "wish the lesser than them" mean in this context and is "Socail" an Irish word?

Any chance you could rephrase that because your intent is lost on me.

Totally agree. Property speculation was the biggest casino in Ireland but you'd never hear anyone call it that. Instead it was called "investing".
