Rake and Place in Bunkers

I remember reading about the idea of raking and placing in bunkers and it seems a great idea for when they are in poor condition, particularly in the winter. I remember reading about the idea of raking and placing in bunkers and it seems a great idea for when they are in poor condition, particularly in the winter.

How is it done and has it been acknowledged as a success in your club? Are there problems that have arisen?

I assume you move the ball to the side or backwards a couple of feet (clublength or so) and then place after you have raked the sand where your ball lay.
