Multi fuel Stove?

My house has no 'external' chimney - there is a gas fire in fireplace and just a flue coming out of roof. The chimney breast rises from the sitting room up through a bed room. Is it possible to put a fuel burning stove in or is there any complication that I am unaware of due to the fact that the house was built with a gas fire in place and a flue in place of an external chimney?

    Thanks

The flue that is there cannot be used for solid fuel it's only suitable for gas.A new flue for solid fuel could be run up through the house or run a new one externally
But these flues can be quite expensive up to €1500 inc fitting

Yeah you couldn't go using the same flue for solid fuel. You'd have to decide how much you want to change your setup. Nice username you have by the way, Jengagirl. Besta luck.

You could consider using a high efficiency gas stove or inset stove.

Different flue for stoves. Can be done.
