    Fcekin Sky, I don't believe it, they're screwing existing customers..............AGAIN!!!! :eek::mad:

Got an e-mail from work, it's apparently a company promotion, basically new customers can get 12mts half price, so that's €91 for €45.50 for everything !!!

When were they(Sky) any different? I got rid of them about 17 years ago, never missed them for a second.

No matter what company it is new customers will always get a better deal, if your not in contract just cancel and sign up again as a new customer. It's a small bit of hassle but well worth it I would think.

Existing customers continue to pay their monthly bills so why would Sky lower their profits.

You can't fault Sky for conducting their business in the way they do. I've had them 6 years.

Insurance companies, banks etc. all do the same. This promotion they are doing is very, very limited & only a chosen few get it.

Oh yes you can, the only reason they get away with abusing/annoying their existing customers is that they have a monopoly.

Wrong, you have UPC,saorview,fta/freesat. People have the choice if they want pay tv from Sky/UPC/Foreign Sub or free tv.

Well lets hope more & more people cop on to that fact, atm I think people just pay Sky and only ask Qs when money gets tight.

Their slogan is 'believe in better', but there's ALOT more they can do for their existing customers before I start believing !

Sky effectively have a monopoly outside UPC areas if you want most sports with English commentary.

I understand that but was just talking about tv in general.UPC down my way offers about 14 channels for over €25 a month, makes Sky look like a bargain.

That makes FTA an absolute bargain unless there are some magic channels in the mix

However, the company had plenty to be pleased about this morning when it reported that revenue had climbed 4 per cent to £1.7bn during the quarter, while pre-tax profit hit £291m - up from £274m for the same period in 2011.
    ...
The company's average revenue per user (ARPU) once again climbed from £535 in 2011's first quarter to £550. Its total customer base now stands at 10.7 million.

There are always special offers available for new customers - correct?

Every sky customer in existence was once a new customer - correct?

Therefore, every sky customer is treated equally.

i.e. You too were once a new customer, and as a new customer you were given a special offer.

    The end.

What a load of bull whirlpool !
The main point of ths thread is to highlight the dis-satisfaction of existing customers.
Example: I rang up Monday to cancel, after going through several options I eventually get a guy on the phone and he takes all my details and eventually asks 'why are you cancelling'. He finishes off by saying he'll put me through to the 'cancellation department', my phone says 4+mins at this stage.
I wait 2 mins, he comes back on and says "sorry for the delay, I'll be as quick as I can", phone now says 6+mins. Same thing happens at 8+mins.
Eventually at 10+mins when he comes back on again, and I say "ok I can't wait any longer", and he takes my phone no. and says that they will ring me back.
3 days later and I've still had no contact from them, so...............have I cancelled or not ??!!:confused::mad:
Is this the way you treat existing customers ??

This is not a one-off unfortunate incident for me, I know loads of other people who have gone through the same experience, ie. a painful process to cancel their subscription, ie. it's designed this way.

Cancel the DD with the bank. Sky will then get informed by bank and you can guarantee they will be on the phone to you trying to get you back.

Thats terrible advice imo. Sky's terms and conditions clearly state that 30 days notice of cancellation must be given. Cancelling a direct debit is not cancelling the contract and will only end up costing the person more money in bank charges.

i got the offer for all channels including all sports and movies, and ESPN, for
    €38.75 for 12 mth contract.

if they jack up the price then i dont consider it good value. can you get out of contract if you dont agree to the change in price?

Short answer is no I'm afraid in relation to the contract.

You might be able to change/reduce the package but you should check this with Sky.

Check your contract, you know, the really small writing ;), and see if it mentions price increases.
I confirmed with a $ky rep the other day that the price increases will be halved if you're on a 1/2 price contract.

I left sky a year ago. I now use a combination of uk freesat HD dvr, saorview, apple tv (films and Netflix). A far better service for my needs and a great deal cheaper.

When I phoned sky to inform them I was leaving they offered me all soughts of incentives to stay, but the biggie was 1/2 price for the year.

    I turned them down.

This hasn't stopped them, they've phoned me about once every 2 months (I am due another call).

Their latest offer was 1/2 price with €50 credited to my acc and no contract.

I said get rid of your HD price (€15 / month) and I'll consider.

To be honest I have no inclination of returning, but I just wanted to show you what they will offer if you are serious about taking them to the line.
