I am putting a bike together at the minute and was going to go with Sram Red but as a cost saving exercise i was going to use some Force components. The question is which components should i not scrimp on and which ones aren't as important?

scrimp on chain, cassette and BB. Replace them with bling when they wear out.

Don't scrimp on the crankset as there's room for a big logo on it so you want something flash.

Lots of guys who ride sram red prefer to use a shimano cassette and chain. Much smoother shifting, plus it's quieter.

The older red front mec had flexible titanium cage plates...The force one has steel cage plates that flex less offering better front shifting...
