Finding a job, could use advice

    Hi!
I am extremely fresh to the jobs market and so far I have had terrible luck and likely done some mistakes to deserve it...

Anyway I am a student so I would look for part time or weekend jobs, I have tried randomly walking around stores in Dublin city centre but did not receive even a single answer after giving out many, many cvs and being very patient and polite... Not even an interview. Often enough I was told that they apply online so I tried that, later Jobs.ie and such, again no answers.

I believe this is because I am young (19) and have no experience and no good referral but really wish they gave me a chance! I don't even care what I do any more and how much I get paid this is just insulting and really killing my ego...

How do people get their first jobs if they are on their own?
    Which methods work best?
Does giving out physical cvs at random, not even knowing if the place hires or not is actually a good idea? It sure feels better than looking through websites and reading how many years of experience they want but didn't achieve anything for me. Still thinking of giving it a shot again.
Lastly, since I am young and apply for the lowest paid jobs am I wrong to be too professional and careful with my cv, cover letters?

Thank you in advance for any advice given.

You have a massive glut of people with the 'sweet spot' of retail experience applying for jobs at the moment. Not too little and not too much experience. You're best bet is to do some volunteering to gain some experience and using any contacts in your college (GCD for instance have a whole range of careers services including temp work).
