I am not a christian but what do people think of this??

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholics_for_a_Free_Choice

They argue that the catholic right has attempted to portray their view as the only authentic Catholicism.

What do people think of them??

All through church history the debate about abortion has never been absolute. There is no mention of it in the bible. And there is no evidence of what early Christians thought. Despite the fact that abortificants were widely available and a part of life.

Some did not condemn abortion as homicide
the elimination of a fetus not yet "formed" and animated by a human soul.
did not qualify as homicide .

Of course the church takes a pro-life stance from coception now. But what do people think??
In 1895, the Church specifically condemned therapeutic abortions

    This is their site...
At Catholics for Choice, We Imagine a World:

Where all women and men are trusted to make moral decisions about their lives.

Where the decision to start a family is thoughtful and planned.

Where policy makers and advocates are free to support policies that create a more just and compassionate society.

Where life-saving health interventions aren't blocked by sectarian interests.

Where abortion is safe, legal and truly accessible, and both contraception and child care are available and affordable.

    We Live In a World:

Where abortion remains illegal or unavailable for millions of women around the world, even when it could save their lives.

Where a woman who needs emergency contraception at a hospital or pharmacy is denied because of the religious beliefs of the pharmacist behind the counter, or the nurse in the emergency room.

Where policy makers are ostracized in their churches and harassed by their clergy because of their support for sex education or reproductive healthcare for poor women.

Where a rape survivor in a war torn country can be told by the Vatican that she must continue the pregnancy that resulted from her attack.

Where more than 40 million people live with HIV and AIDS while the Vatican lobbies against the use of condoms.

In all parts of the world, women, men and their families suffer because they lack the resources to plan their families, and the comprehensive information and education to keep themselves safe and healthy.

The Catholic hierarchy's powerful lobby plays a huge role in influencing public policy and affects everyone ― Catholic or not ― by limiting the availability of reproductive healthcare services worldwide.

The Catholic hierarchy's ban on contraception and abortion has a disastrous impact on women's lives, especially the lives of poor women who may rely soley on government-run programs for access to reproductive healthcare services. It is women and their families who pay the price every time theocracy trumps democracy in the debate over women's healthcare.

Forget about the latest case ...what do people think?

The churches stance on abortion has been changing and debated in house over the centuries.

Do you think the catholic right tries to depict the right as the only true Catholicism?

Honestly I am not a Christian..but I think the right infiltrated the Catholic church..it as a long history of debauchery and riches

    Forget about the latest case??

What do people think of this??

Various Bishops have condemned them....the Catholic right has pulled a fast one...if you don't agree with papal infallibility you are not Catholic....cha ching

Islamic scholars disagree about when a fetus becomes a person but it is universally accept after 120 days it is 'ensouled'

Early Islamic scholars allowed abortion up to 40 days.

    Now in Islam
In Islam, the fetus is believed to become a living soul after four months of gestation,[1] and abortion after that point is generally viewed as impermissible.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_and_abortion
Many Islamic thinkers recognize exceptions to this rule for certain circumstances; indeed, Azizah Y. al-Hibri notes that "the majority of Muslim scholars permit abortion, although they differ on the stage of fetal development beyond which it becomes prohibited.

Only a small minority of Islamic scholars prohibit abortion.

    And interestingly
Sherman Jackson, "while abortion, even during the first trimester, is forbidden according to a minority of jurists, it is not held to be an offense for which there are criminal or even civil sanctions," so Muslims should not support legal restrictions on abortion rights unsupported by Islamic law, as opposed to solely moral activism.

Some Islamic scholars claim it is forbidden with exceptions only for when the life of the mother is in danger. Some only before 40 days some only before 120 days. Some say before 120 days with a valid reason.

I just think it is interesting. Most Muslims i have spoken to would say it is forbidden.

Why do religions present viws n abortion as if there is no differing opinions?

'Religion' is the worst justification for (or against) abortion, that I can think of.
