    Hi all,

My wife currently works 3 days per week and gets JB for the other 2 days. I work 3 days and was recently means tested and moved onto JA.

My wife has been offered a job working 5 days a week during school term time.

I am just wondering, when she is off in non-term time e.g summer time would she be able to claim from the dole during this period and as I'm means tested for my JA will I be cut off when she is working 5 days per week or will it be taken into consideration that she will only be working 5 days a week for 38 weeks of the year.

    Thanks in advance!

Your means will be re-assessed on your wifes increased earnings if she is working 5 days per week. She can sign on for any periods that she is not paid for e.g. Christmas Holidays, Mid-term, Easter. Summer.

Will her earnings be assesed over a 52 week period and given an average weekly wage or just on the weeks she is working?

You will have to give sw 3 of her recent payslips and they will assess means for your claim from these.

I have sat down and worked out some figures. Although my wife when working 5 days will earn more than when she is working 3 days, over the course of the year she will be earning approx €40 less per year.

Will this be taken into consideration by the sw or will they just look at what she is earning for 5 days? Will it be noted by them that she is working term time only and her weekly wage wont be coming into the household for parts of the year?
