I would hope that most on this page would be more sensible than to go into the sea in a force 10 storm!! Footage here of Plymouth Lifeboat being called to the aid of a kayaker yesterday as the storm lashed the SW Britain. Fortunately these guys are willing to put their lives at risk to rescue people in any weather. Still cant understand why someone would go to sea in that weather in any boat, let alone a kayak!

Wow that lifeboat crew are heroes and braver men than I am, risking their lives to save a complete idiot! I'm sure most paddlers would know better.

Was trying to find the sea conditions, doesnt look like a force 10
Looking at it, Id have said a 7 or 8 at most.
Thats not bad weather, not for a ship.

just not a kayak, stupid going out in it
Probably caught off guard?, weather turned worse? inexperience of the area?
More stupid going on their own, thats the really dumb bit.

Maybe not, but Its hard to tell, sometimes experienced people can forge ahead with a plan to go out. looking at it, I'm not convinced its even an 8 but its too much to be kayaking in.

While we are not being hit by the same storms as the UK, I have noticed the sea being a bit 'unsettled' here.

Keep meaning to go out for a paddle but can't find the time. Might hit Carlingford to blow off the cob webs tomorrow....
