Im having a nightmare trying to track down a H1 connector for my pug 407. The bulb somehow melted/fuesed into the connector which meant i couldnt remove it and had to snip the connector off to replace it. I tried 3 car dismantlers and 2 motorfactors to no avail. Peugeot dealer is looking for €75 for some sort of new wire loom to sort it. There are some places on ebay offering some sort of diy fix but they are looking for 14 sterling postage for a connector the size of a euro coin. Ill try and add a pic of the damaged connector but im sending this from my phone so i dont know if i can. so basically im in need of a H1 single pin connector.

    H1?

Why not just cut it and use a spade connector....?

Ok lads. Thanks for info. As regards the spade connector - the orignal has 2 wires going into the connector. How do i get around that. i guess i have the same problem with the connector from ebay as it shows one wire going into the connector.

Put the 2 wires into the spade connection then crimp it. You will need a blue or yellow one depending on the thickness of the wires. Yellow being bigger

You also need to be careful not to put 'hotter' bulbs in than were speced for the car....
otherwise you can have the connectors melt (or worse)....

Ok before i electrocute myself i just want to confirm this. Regards the attached pic. Is this the right set up. 2 wires going into the yellow end or just one and the earth wire going somewhere else?

You said there was 2 wires in the one that was on it?? Just put it back the same. You won't fry yourself on a headlight bulb wiring! You will just blow a fuse if it's wrong

Right so. This chaps diagram had me confused with the way he wired it up.

The positive goes to the spade connector and the neutral connector needs to be connected to the metal base/surround of the bulb.

    Have a look here.

Don't connect both wires to the same spade connector! That's connecting +12 to Neutral and will blow the fuse.

Thanks. That makes more sense. Looks like a little soldering job for me so.:)

    Wires are Orange & Brown

Just test them to make sure the orange is the live.

This is the connector on my mondeo
DSC_0068-1.jpg as you can see the spade on the bulb sits up in the middle and the tabs on the side are the earth.

Don't solder the earth to the bulb as you will have to do this every time you change the bulb

I'd say they would be the same on any car with a h1 bulb. I might even have a spare one

You would think that but 3 different motor factors didnt have a clue what it was. Ill do a diy fix for now and when i have the time ill pop back to scrap yard and look at mondeos. Cheers sean

Not really something a motor factor would stock. It would be part of the headlight wiring loom and I guess that's what they were trying to sell you. Loads of cars have h1s these days so should be on bother get some
