Seeing as I very seldom get to go as far south as Killiney what's the story with these new markings on the round about there

Are we supposed to yield to cyclists on the cyclepath as they cross various entries and exits or is that only supposed to apply to the part of the cycle path in the centre and we are just being reminded to watch for cyclists crossing to exit the RaB as normal?

Note this image isn't mine it's from a thread here

you are supposed to yield to cyclists going straight on on the red tarmac when you are turning left off the roundabout.

It's needed because the design of the road is so stupid and dangerous they realised that common sense, the rotr and the other sign on the pole wouldn't be enough to prevent cyclists from getting cut up. So instead of fixing the road (essentially putting it back the way it was when there was little issue) they just put in more distractions, making it even more dangerous.

whoever designed that roundabout should be shot

    edit:
here's a fun little thread on it

AFAICT, the red 'cycle path' in the centre is not a cycle path but just serves to narrow the roundabout to a single lane. I presume it's not kerbed so that trucks can over-run it.

Yes, definitely not a cycle lane of any kind (unless for some ever-circling Sisyphuseal (sic) cyclist :P). It is a bit raised, but I think you're right that it may be intended for large-vehicle-'overspill', going from what I've read.

    More like Ixion than Sisyphus?

    *Consults Wikipedia*

Ta - I knew there was probably a better analogy, but ... this is what happens when you don't have a 'classical' education :o
