Hi guys. I have an a&k m249 that out of the box had terrible energy and rate of fire problems. Today I bought king arms high speed gears, classic army high speed motor, ultimate m4 air nozzle, ultimate hop up rubber, madbull 6.03 tight bore and ultimate piston all coming to the lovely price of €180 in MIA. I have fitted everything myself and everything went together nicely untill I tried to put the the front (outter barrel) back on. It won't lock back into place. It holds for a second and then just pops back out. Tried refitting everything 10 times over but it still won't lock into place. This is wrecking my head so hopefully someone will be able to help me find a solution. Thanks for ready guys

might it be that the hop up isnt seated correctly in the barrel ? have you tried seating the hop up in the gun and then attaching the barrel after ?
also it might just be that you not using enough force , when seating mine I have to give a fair bit or pressure to get it to lock into place

Tried with the hop up rubber on the barrel going into the chamber, with the rubber in the chamber putting the barrel in. I've tried putting the assembly in and the the outer barrel but still won't seat into place. Tried forcing it but still pops out annoyingly. When I'm putting the tight bore into the outer barrel I'm putting the spring and then steel ring above it, is this right does anyone know?

Ok so have it on front of me now. Starting from the top of the chamber. The barrel is in, then the little brass ring, then the spring and the steel ring working up. Is that right?

Can i ask , did you actually fit this part into it, as some of the parts of the gearbox are regualr V2/3 parts except this part, the nozzale is proprioity to the aeg itself .

Might help break down the barrel installation issue maybe..?????

Yea it fitted in perfectly no issues that I can see. Chris in Mia said he's fitted them before and they work. Gearbox fires perfectly but tomorrow I'll open it again and put the standard nozzle back and see if it makes any difference. Thanks for the idea

the gearbox could be pushing everything forward making it pop out, especially if the nozzle isn't fitting into the hop chamber properly.
On a side note, one of my mates has a SAW and a while back he lost the locking mech for the barrel, so we started using black tie backs to hold it in place, he's convinced that it holds better and feels sturdier than the barrel lock ever did, just something to look into, not saying to use this method now, especially if you have to force the barrel in like. Try take the gearbox out and fit everything back? From what i remember the SAW's GB can be removed pretty easily :)

Sorry if this is a bit obvious but is locking level in the correct position when entering the barrel and is the box mag still attached to the gun with bb's ready to load ? The bb ready to load can act a bit like a spring against the barrel being put in.Also I found on mine once after trying to force the barrel in I slightly flattened the edge of small finn on the back of the hop up unit. I gave it a little file down and it slipped back into place easily after.

Thanks everyone for the advice but nothing seemed to work so it's gone to Mia and will hopefully be collecting early next week :-)
