PAYE query

Would apreciate some advice here. I work part time during college and it's my first time in the tax system. I have the option of being paid when I want to be paid and so I let my pay build up from September to November and was paid today. I have my tax credit certificate sorted and my gross pay was 599.
I ended up after tax deductions with a take home of 495, 56 euro of this was PAYE.
I think this happened because my employer put down my frequency of payment as Weekly when this is not the case, and they applied a weekly PAYE tax credit limit of 63.47. I really only expected to be paying the USC and and PRSI and as a student losing 50 euro I expected is a bit of a blow. I'll admit I'm not too up to speed on tax matters, but just wondering if anyone knows if there's any way I could claim a refund on this or is it just the case that I did owe this much tax.

I'm not too up to speed with tax matters so sorry if that doesn't make a whole lot of sense but would apreciate if someone could help me out!

Yeah basically your employer's made a hames of it, they should be able to fix it either straight away or the next time they pay you. Talk to them, that's the only way you'll get it sorted without waiting til after the year end and claiming it back from Revenue.
