Safety File

    Hey Guys,

    I'm studying at the moment for the RIAI Arch, Tech. entry exam next June.

    The Contract Admin section is a bit of a killer as a lot of it consists of learning stuff off by heart, the bad old fashioned way.

    This tends to be easier if you understand exactly what you are learning and the reasons for it. Bearing this in mind, with regard to a Safety File for a project could anyone provide some examples for the following items as deemed relevant information by the HSA;

    • The general design criteria,

    • Details of the equipment and maintenance facilities within the structure,

    • Maintenance procedures and requirements for the structure.

    I've prepped many a Safety File for handover before and normally include;

    -Construction drawings, specs & BOMs,

    -O&Ms for plant and equipment, or to quote the HSA "manuals, certificates, produced by specialist contractors and suppliers which outline operating and maintenance procedures and schedules for plant and equipment installed as part of the structure, typically lifts, electrical and mechanical installations and window cleaning" I would have thought this section would have covered the last 2 points of my query?:confused:

    -Details of utilities and services (emergency and fire-fighting systems) etc

    I contacting the HSA directly but alas, no response.

    Thanks in advance for any help.
