    Hey folks!

I know this is a bit irregular for a missing persons thread, but I've just received an e-mail from the admin of dakkadakka.com (sent to all Irish members) stating that the father of one of their friends has gone missing in Co. Meath:

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/1116/appeal-for-missing-man-james-meechan.html

Now I don't know any of them personally, but if anyone has any information please contact Ashbourne Garda Station 01-8010600, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

Letting the admin of the website know if you see anything would be a good idea too, so please e-mail machinespirit@dakkadakkamail.com too if you can help.

Me too. It must be awful having a loved one missing and not knowing if something happened to them

While I might not be able to help I will send this to all my email contacts, I hope everything turns out ok.

Ditto. It's becoming an altogether too common occurrence. WTF is going on in the world.........

It's generally because people are taking notice through the Internet. Just because we hear more about it doesn't mean it's happening more. Same thing with pedophiles, parents are panicking more, but the rate of abduction (very low) has stayed roughly the same.

On topic, I hope he's found safe and well.

There are far more missing persons than most people think, unfortunately.

Most of them receive little publicity.

wow, just looked at that. I don't know what the all the Asians are up to with being listed missing but its waaay disproportionate. Whatevers going on they're making it difficult for any genuine case. crying wolf.

I see what point their making in that the number of "Irish" names is minimal while foreign names vastly outnumber them. Is it a case of these people just moving on perhaps...???

Could a lot of them be simply "midnight flits" from flats etc?

It does appear there has at least been an increase in reporting of missing persons:

    Good stuff!

I just got this email from Jim:

"Hi all, I just wanted to say thanks again for any re-posts and to anyone who kept their eyes open. My friend's dad has now been found after 10 long days and all is well. Just wanted to let you all know that it was thankfully a very happy ending!"

    So it all ended well!

Excellent news! At 10 days I was thinking the worst. Glad all is well!
