Thinking of buying one of these for light yard duties, 2wd AP cab more than likely. Just wondering what I would have to pay for one in reasonable condition. Couple on done deal for around the nine grand mark, would that be the go of it ? Thanks for any replies.

They are very dear. I'm after a tractor and was thinking of a ford or Deere, but there is way better value in a Renault. There is a Deere 2140 for half that money on dd

Stay away from the column change gearshift, try get as late a one as possible 1990ish with the ribbed engine block. I'm not sure if any 5610's have the rotary injection pump, but if they have, they are easier started. Just my 2 cents. Oh and watch out for excessive wear in the front axle.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

all of the above and keep an eye out on the cab...
I've a 1989 4610 with a front loader, well able to lift a bale of silage (even this year's vintage/weight ), great tractor starts on the first tip.
The only warning I'd have is watch out for any sign at all of rust on the cab, I bought mine 6 years ago and the cab has literally fallen apart on it, I think it's because of a british steel strike in the mid 80's and a load of substandard steel was imported from India..
Oh also the block can fail/become porous but other than that they're a great tractor and a quick/easy fix when anything goes wrong.

would agree with the advice of others, just to add that you could look for an older 46 / 56 / 66 or even a 4000/5000 if its just light work. should pick one up cheaper. high cost due to lots being exported.

the only problem with older models would be less comfortable cab and more chance of getting a tractor with problems.

whats wrong with the column shift box in these. I must say i never drove one but I actually love the column shift box. im used to the older fiats with them such as the 1180s, and older fiat 1000s and 1300s. always loved them gearboxs compared to the two sticks. is it that there a bad gearbox in the for or just that people dont like the feel of them?

Just to note there are 2 types of colum change. The 1st generation seris 10's had the rubic cube and it was poor. But the 2nd generation that a different gearbox its knows as the H pattern and it is actually very good. Have driven all the series 10's. there are actually 4 types of gear boxes. The floor change is pretty much the same that came from the older 600 seris. The 3rd generation with the super q cab had a newer floor change mounted on the right. 9k for 5610 is way too much though. Great tractor for general light farm work.
