I was 5, a disenchanted adult decided to tell me. It came as a shock and I still remember the feeling!

I was determined to prove Santa existed one year, I laid booby traps around the fire place like a piece of cereal box cardboard so when he emerged from the chimney he'd leave a sooty footprint.

The next morning I ran down and found a big footprint from a welly on the cardboard, thought I was a genius for having caught a trace of him.

Funny, don't even remember what I got as a present that year but I always remember that :pac:

I was around 10/11. I left a note out for Santa and my older sis wrote the response. I recognized her writing and Christmas was ruined forever.

Reminds of the comedian Jason Manford talking about his father having the same tradition every Christmas Eve whereby he would shout out the window within earshot of his kids :"I don't care who you are but you can take those reindeer off my roof" :D

Think I was about 9, found the presents behind a couch in my grandparents house. About the same age I realised god didn't exist. My year of enlightenment.

    No it was hers.

We hadn't a clue back then, and kept going to her.

NEW FROM MATTELL, Big black willy, Balls sold separately.

That's when she convinced us it was a torch :)

But the older I got the more I understood and realised it was No torch.

What truth? That an old man sneaks into your house at night to empty his sack. That he prefers to use your "chimney" for coming in?

That teacher is/was a cnut for doing this. If I was the parent of one of the kids I would be very annoyed.

    I am actually annoyed now.

I hate these threads, I can picture in a few years.

"I found out from AH, that place is full of grinches too"

I was 11. Found the yellow lego castle hidden behind parents bed. When I told my granny, she told me not to tell my mother because it would upset her to think I didn't believe in Santa...

Went back in the school after 20 yrs i brought it up with another teacher as I would have liked to confront him but he passed away.

Allegedly he did it a number of times!!

***Note I was in school for work reasons not to specifically confront him!!***

Is it the poor content, lack of topic or something else. I like to take any criticism and use it for self improvement.

I was 7 and a girl in school told me 2 weeks before Christams. I was gutted and tried not to believe her and had myself sorta convinced that she had been lying so carried on that year but the next year a while before Christmas I demanded my mother tell me the truth and she did. Was gutted.

I had to tell my eldest the day before he went back to school coz he was 12 and in 6th class and I didnt want him getting the crap beaten out of him for saying that he believed in Santa. He had thought it was bull but then Santa brought him a mobile phone and I had said that he wasnt allowed one until after his confirmation. He really believed there must be one since he had gotten the phone!

I tried to tell my youngest when he was 11 too and thought would break it to him slowly by telling him there was no such thing as the tooth fairy or easter bunny....He started laughing and said "yeah yeah great april fools mum" coz hadn't copped the date. Had to leave it til after Christmas that year. Broke my heart having to tell them.

Ah sfwcork, you're killing me here dude. It's not like I want to keep closing your threads, but I can't leave them open either :(

There can only be one christmas thread in After Hours and it's here. If you want to have a thread all of your own, I can re-open this and move it to the Christmas forum. PM me if that's what you want.
