Stop Skype auto updating nexus 7

Not Rooted and won't do for 10 Months. Saw Droidwall but too advanced for me just now Have disabled auto update in play store app, installed version 2.9 of Skype, but it immediately auto-updates. The new version of Skype only works in Landscape on Nexus 7
