Called back to mike duggan in Killarney with a buddy who was after a few shells tonight and there he had a full range of the lightforce Hid lamps. Picked up a 240 hid and brought her home.Went out for a quick test with my lamper and initial tests are amazing.Figures quoted are 30 % more light and 60 % less power draw.
This thing is unbelieveable. We were looking at a fox perfectly not just eyes but full details at 500 yards. We saw sheep through the scope at 700+.
What a piece of kit. Also the light is white not yellow and works just so much better through the scope.Roll on the weekend till I get to christen it

€345 for the top end 240mm.I would say you have similar power to the halogen bulb as soon as you switch it on and about 2-3 seconds later you have full whack. If she is already hot you have full power instantly.

Will do should have it out for a full night tomorrow or Friday .

Yeah she works with the standard filters and supposed to be much improved with them although I have yet to test mine.

345 is a bit pricey for a lamp gearoidol, it must be fairly powerfull

If it gets me a few that would have been out of reach/unable to safely identify animal/backstop it is well worth it.

Also the blitz was though on my 10 amp lithium and have ran out of battery a good few nights so this should sort that

Be interested to see how long you can get out of a battery with it

I have a roof mounted 170 Hid which I bought direct from Lightforce in Aus 2 years ago. It has transformed our lamping trips.Top class piece of kit.

Mine cost 350 Aus $ delivered . No vat no import duty either. I was dealing with a guy called Kerry in Lightforces custom build dept. He was very helpful

Trigger I suppose it helps if I explain I use a zeiss victory fl 6-24x56 scope ontop of the tikka 223 and can comfortably take clays out to 400m during the day and as I have a lot of permissions which have a lot of "valleys" in the middle of large fields long shots 250m + often present themselves.
With this setup and now this lamp shots around and over this distance are a real certainty (as much as is possible) while remaining humane ,safe and easy to identify your quarry,

Got a HID scope mounted lamp from www.pigeon-decoys.co.uk earlier this year. Took 1 fox at a lasered 372 yds. I could see it clearly. a Lightforce just fades away beside one of these lamps and yes they do whine a bit on startup.

The downside, which I have not experienced is that if the bulb goes the whole unit is U/S.

what do fellows think these lamps should cost i know bringing them from another country is probably cheaper but would the revenue catch it through the post and try and nail people for vat?.

Well first night out and here is the verdict.

Went out to my favourite permission tonight.A quarter moon was out tonight so not the best test of the new lamp but off we went.this permission consisted of a farm basically made up of one large field which has undulating valleys of about 400m wide.
We came out of the little grove of trees at the bottom of the first valley and called for 30 seconds.A quick scan revealed a large pair of eyes. From a summer shooting rabbits here I knew immediately he was at 220 yards and sent the first 53 grain superformance of the night off and down he went.

    A fine fox no doubt.

On up the hill looking down over the next valley where you could clearly see out over 400m.A quick scan revealed two rabbits playing about 100 yards from us.This is where things got abit weird. On lamping the rabbits both made an immediate b-line for us.One did 3 summer salts on the way and they both came within 10 yards of us before figuring us as human and taking of at top speed.Cant explain this !!!

I started calling again and immediated my home made silva fox caller had 3 visitors brought in.One was about 120m and 2 more between 300 - 350m.
The nearer fox made a run for it and we were left with the 2 long rangers.
Looking through the scope they couldn't care less about the hid light on them and started worming.I took out the rangefinder and the nearest came up at 305m.After setting the asv turret on the scope I let one rip and down she went.New personal best and a great way to christen the new light.

To sum up on the lamp it is first class.Yes they are expensive but imo they are worth it.We could clearly see sheep through the zeiss scope tonight at over 700m.I'm not talking about identifying sheep but actually seeing every detail of them.
Also tonight with 1hr 20min of use we used 30% of my lithium batt. With the old 240 blitz I was getting 1hr 30 min total. So a huge improvement in power use.

Just in from another night out with it.The more I use it the more I like it.Full moon tonight so a pain in the hole for lamping and this thing is fab.We used it for rabbits in a forestry that are in heavy cover and just nabbed a fox 5 mins ago on the way home.2hrs 30 min lamping tonight and it used 45% of my lithium batt.Incredible.

We'll have a game of swords when u get it !
