Requirements for dole?

    Hello!

I'm an 18 y/o guy in first year in ucc.
I'm also working part time with 10/17 hours at the weekends.

Since my dad stopped getting child benefit he's treated me like an asset. I pay him 50e a week and I still pay for my food, transport and all my college myself. Don't think I'm ungrateful, I'm really not. But living there has just become so depressing for me. It's like I'm not his son anymore.

College is going very badly for me too. I'm not attending enough and right now I just feel like I've fallen into a whirlpool of failing and I can't get back out. There'd be no point in me trying anymore.

Basically, I'd make more money on the dole. I'd be able to search for other cash in hand jobs under the table sort of thing aswell. This would involve me dumping my current job and dropping out of ucc.

Yes, I understand it's a big waster move. But I really need a break. My life right now is just stress stress stress and even though I don't complain at all I feel like **** all the time.

So simply all I want to know is if I lost my job and dropped out of college; would I be eligible for the dole?

If you leave college, you will need to supply a letter to SW stating this in order to claim Jobseeker's Allowance. If you leave your current job on your own accord, you can be disqualified for claiming for up to 9 weeks.
Also the most you will get on Jobseeker's Allowance at your age is €100.
However, this is not a forum for looking for advice on how to commit SW fraud - i.e. looking for cash in hand jobs under the table and claiming.
    Thread closed.
