    Just an idea I have;
    May have been done before and buried in the annals of the forum.
    Or equally discussed and dismissed.
    How would people feels about a thread / sticky similar to the race profiles in the events sub-forum.
    Except instead of being for races it would contain county indexed routes with the surface type and distance, in link to a gps file;
    like this:

    CORK, BANTEER, LIGHT TRAIL 3.5km lap

    CORK, KILCORNEY, LIGHT TRAIL / ROAD 1mile lap

    Might be possible to link to an interactive map, I know similar was done a few years ago for surfing beaches.

    A potential problem may be "undesirables" being able to find previously unknown parking spots for a bit of auto theft.

    Yay/Nay?

    Possibly a good idea especially if one finds themselves away for the weekend etc. recently stayed in Waterford and made up my own 8 mile loop as I went along. It was ****e and links like this would have given me an option.

    Great site for setting it up as a boards group. Allows managed access to routes as you can 'by invite only' control members so its not wide open public domain.

    Yeah, except unless all the details are consistent it doesn't navigate easily.(my opinion)
    I think the search function is a bit poor as well, been a while since I used it. The locality search isn't great.
    I used it for a few runs in Germany, as well as gpsies, both were okay but finding the runs was awkward, I ended up having to zoom to an area I was interested in to isolate the runs.
    It has improved but the ads and stuff are annoying, especially the wait period.
    It also relies on everyone having to have an account, where as a listed index would link to whatever sites the up-loader uses.
    Adding route details it to a common map isn't difficult using the goggle maps API.
    Again, just an idea.
