Temporarally importing a car TO the UK/ exporting from Ireland

    Hi,

    I should be going to the UK for about 9 months. I wanted to bring my car with me. However, there is a limit in the UK using a foreign car in the UK of 6 months without registering it.

    I plan on coming back (with the car) for a few weeks about midway through my stay.

    My insurance will provide 3rd party only cover while I'm gone, I can have it taxed, NCT etc. But what are the chances of my car being impounded for going over the limit.

    I will have a ferry ticket to say that I only recently brought it in. (due to my return half way through)
