Canon fit Sigma flash on Nikon body?

As per the title, I am just wondering if a Canon fit Sigma flash will work on a Nikon body? It is the Sigma Ef-430 ST on a Nikon D40.

I am aware that it won't have any of the TTL functions, but neither do the lenses I'll be using so I'm ok with that!

The only function I will need is the ability to change the strength of the flash. Can anybody tell me if this will work?

    Thanks in advance!

If it's canon fit then its specific to be on a Canon body. They may use differnt voltage from one system to another. There is a risk you may damage the flash, the camera or both. It could work fine but without TTL functions but for me, I wouldn't chance it.
