combination between child allowance and part time job?

    Hi,

    I post this thread because i'm not really aware about the state benefits .

    I know a person who has 2 children .She's a lone parent.

    She really wants to get a job and went for a job interview as some companies are looking for staff for christmas time.

    The purpose is to get out of the social welfare as much as she can with a full time job at the end.

    She went to the social welfare office but she couldnt get a straight (mathematic?) answer .

    Like everybody,she has bills to pay and you need to forecast your budget for the month and I really think it's pity you can't get another answer from the social welfare than " you should take it" without speaking mathematically about the "side effects".Having less child allowance could be managed more or obviously less easily if you know in advance how much you will be affected but the lack of information can discourage some people.

    The questions are:



    - How many hours is she allowed to work every week to keep the same child allowance?

    - How much can be affected her child allowance if she get the job ?(obviously, it will be a part time job at the beginning with a salary of 8.65 euros per hour)

    - If after a few weeks , the company decide your contract is over , are you entitled to get you child benefits straight?Is there a periode of 6 months like I heard you are not allowed to have your child allowance back straight?

    Childrens Allowance isn't affected if she works or not its a set payment and isn't means tested.
    Lone parents payment,thats a different story and we would need more information to give an answer.

    What scheme are you talking about?

    thank you for the answer but I don't know what scheme she's on.I will ask her and go back when i have the answer.

    If your friend is on OPFP then she can work any amount of hours and she can earn euro130 and keep all of her payment.
    Is she earns in excess of euro130 than half the excess will be deducted from her payment.
    So if she earns euro200 per week then euro35 will be deducted from her OPFP etc.
    If she works at least 20 hours per week she would also be entitled to (possibly) FIS.
    She should take the job if she can, inform SW and apply for FIS if she has 20 hours at least.

    19 hours for FIS.
    If she earns over €420 she would lose OFP.

    yes 19 hours, thats rights, but euro425 for the cut-off point, if we are nit-picking.:)

    Thank you so much for these information, i know she spoke about a limit of 130 euros per week but without too much precision, something like that.The company couldn't tell her exactly how many hours per week she will work.
    They said it might be 10 hours a week, 25 the other week,...
