Converting from gas water heater to Electric?

    Hi folks,
Am in the middle of a rebuild and at present we are livin on site in a mobile home. All is fine except the hot water situation. the heat and hot water are both gas. The heat works fine but we never have any how water.
There are seperate heaters my partners says that due to the low temp outside the heater cannot heat the water.(not believing him) Its actually freezing cold.

I now have to boil pots of water to give my son a bath and am getting really fed up of the whole situation.

Anyone have experience with this type of thing? the boilers were checked before we moved in and we were told everything was working but this clearly is not working.

If this is the norm and there is no hot water for those living in mobile homes during cold weather surely there are other options? should we convert to a water tank and immersion? is it a huge job dont want to have to move out again esp this time of year

In a Mobile, if you have radiators for heating then you are using a combi boiler of some type, do you know what name is on your boiler ?? can you tell us the type of gas your using (yellow bottle or red)and size of bottle ??
You do not have the option of a tank and immersion, you could go for a small (10/15ltr) under sink water heater, you are better off trying to get the combi going.

A combi working correctly should give you a rise in water temperature of 35 degrees from incoming, at a set flow rate (flow rates depend on the size of the boiler)

Turn off the central heating on the boiler (set to summer mode) then open the tap and look to see if the boiler actually fires up on the tap demand

If it doesn't then you amy need a new flow sensor for the boiler (or it's not wired correctly)
If it does, but you don't get any hot water, check to see with the tap still running do any rads heat up as I maybe a diverter valve problem in the boiler
If the water gets hot, then cold, then hot and so on, then the heatexchanger or filters in the boiler maybe blocked

For all of the above you will need and RGI out to repair.

And they'll also check if your running it on Propane and not Butane.

OK, as its a warm air unit you will have a seperate water heater, usually in a small cupboard near the rear door, it really depends on make of water heater in which direction you can now be advised, can you read the make, Morco, Bosch, Paloma. ??

Some of these combinations use 2 bottles and seperate the WAU and WH, who piped it up for you ?

The Bosch water heaters are self igniting so not a lot you can check for, there are batteries if you look under the unit, replace them, try adjusting the Temperature control knob, are you sure the gas supply to this unit has been connected ?
