Beauty treatments in run up to wedding?

    Hi All,

I am looking for a bit of advice RE beauty treatments I should consider in the four week run up to my wedding on the 27th December? I am completely clueless as to what I should be thinking about getting as the extent of my experience with beauty salons is a few manicures, pedicures and a Swedish massage once!

The only thing I am definite about so far is that I want to get the following:
    Eyebrow Shape & Tint
    Eyelash Tint
    Facial
    Manicure/Pedicure
    Full leg wax
    Bikini wax

What I am unsure of is the order, timeline and frequency of the treatments. I know I should trial most of them and need to get a colour test done for the tinting. How far in advance of the wedding day should I get a facial done i.e. what's the minimum number of days between facial and wedding day? And should I think about getting an 'extraction' facial relatively soon and just a refresher facial a few days before?

Also, I have never had had a wax before (leg or bikini) so have no clue what to do about that. I only have 4ish weeks left between now and the last day before the wedding that I could realistically get a wax done, i.e. December 22nd, unless I could get one done on Christmas eve. So will I have enough time left to get a trial run in on this?

And finally, should I think about getting some body treatments and if so has anyone any recommendations? I just want to have my skin in best condition possible.

Sorry for the long post! I am not used to getting beauty treatments but reckon if there's any time to do it it is for my wedding!

Mods if you think this would be better in the Beauty forum please feel free to move, I just thought it might be good to get some advice from fellow brides and brides to be.

Oh, I am in Cork so if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations for salons in Ballincollig/Bishopstown area that would be great!

    Thanks :)

    Hi - congratulations :)

If you've never had a leg or bikini wax then get it done this week to see what its like and whether it agrees with your skin!
Everything else probably best done as close to wedding as possible - like Christmas eve would be good.
I wouldn't recommend an extractions facial - you might get a breakout.
Maybe try a mini facial first and see if it agrees with your skin? Makeup usually goes on really well after a mini facial.
Try get Shellac on your nails - lasts longer.
And for the body - a body scrub is a really nice treatments makes your skin feel really smooth.

Hope you have a great day :)

Adore in Oliver Plunkett St offer all the treatments you're looking for. But they're pricey.

I would second getting facials. I got monthly Dermalogica facials before I got married with the last one 10 days before (just in case of breakout). Extraction facials are best as they remove all the rubbish. There's no point otherwise!

Get the waxing done ASAP to see if suits you. I used to wax before I developed an allergy...:(. Nothing worse than feeling less than comfy because of allergies!!

I find threading is best for the brows especially if you have sensitive skin. But I'll be honest and say I have yet to find someone decent here in Cork that can do it. There's the Turkish barber in Blackpool I've used for tidy-up of regrowth, but never used him to shape. I usually get it done in London when I'm home.

I know there's a beautician in Wilton SC, but have never used her. I do know she does Dermalogica, same as Adore.

You can get a decent body scrub from Boots (The Sanctuary does the best one) without paying for someone to do it. Get a loofah, squeeze a bit on it and scrub away in the shower. Make sure to moisturise properly after too. I recommend Palmer's Cocoa Butter lotion. It's the best one out there.

    Hope this helps!

In ballincollig I would recommend Essence of beauty. I've been going to them for years and they are very friendly and professional.

Regarding the timing of treatments the regrowth with waxing would be be around a month if not more with some people so its unlikely that you could fit more than one in before the big day. The first time I got my legs waxed they were a little red for a day or so so you might want to give it a few days.

I've never gotten a facial before but a friend gets them regularly and she would always get them a few days before an event. I would definitely try a trial and see how your skin reacts!

I agree, if you wax now, you may not have much for waxing again. Have you never had waxing before? If you're not likely to have a reaction to it, I'd leave it til the week before.
Facials are good, but don't leave it too close to the wedding or you could get a break-out. Massages are great for destressing. Get one one day before the wedding.
Shellac will last longer than regular polish. However, it can chip so if you're leaving couple of days before the wedding to do it, use gloves and such to protect them for doing dishes or any DIY.
If you can afford it and have dark hair, get laser hair removal. I got it done on my legs and underarms 4 weeks before. Far better than waxing and had no hair at all at the wedding.
