I have internet on my desktop but since yesterday I can connect the laptop. it just went off for no aparent reason. I tried system restore without any luck. got a message "failed to extract original copy of directory from the restore point" I have tired every point.
when I tried to get help and support it came up with "wireless network adapter is experiencing proplems"
Can anyone help. I dont really want to do a full restore unless its totally necessary.
As you may guess I am not tech savy so I would appreciate any help.
    I am running windows 7

    1. check that the wifi button on the laptop is not switched off
    2. try updating the wifi drivers

For a time the Viao's had a Wifi finder application. Can't remember the name, but it might be this that is acting up on you.

    Force the application to disconnect.
Turn off the automatic connection option on it.
    Exit the application.
    Restart your machine.
Launch the application again and connect manually.

Had the same problem myself and couldn't find a way for it to connect automatically again.
Can't for the life of me remember what the application is called!

Have you tried to switch off the antivirus?

I was looking at a PC for a friend for several hours and I could not figure out why it would not connect to the internet via wifi or with a network cable. Turned out the antivirus was the cause

If you are using the Sony WifiSpot application, then click on Files in the top left corner and then the menu option to Disconnect.

.....oh and I've managed raising my 2 kids grand so far :)

This could also be the porblem. On the system tray beside the clock normally in the bottom right corner of your screen, there should be an icon for your anti virus. Right Click and there should be a Disable option.

BUT!!! Only use this as a temporary measure to test if this is the source of your problem. You dont want to leave your AV off!

finally had to get a guy out to "fix" my laptop. he got it working but after he left it went again. still "no internet connection" so he came back and told me that he went into Sony (i assume help and support) and that some internet button was turned off so he turned it back on and it worked fine again.... wait, after a few hours it went off again. Now I not at all sure what he did. I texed him to tell me but he has not replied. He put an 250gig hardrive into my desktop and charged me 190 I think it a bit dear. what do you people think ?
