Hi I want to experiment with making android apps so I was going to buy a pay as you go android smartphone. But I don't want to put any credit into the phone. Only use it exclusively for wifi in my home. can i use wifi on my phone without a data plan or any credit on my phone. Or do the phone companies block this and not allow it?

    Many Thanks.

Yes. I still have my old smart (nokia 5800) phone, no sim card in it, and still use the Wifi and satnav.

You should develop using the emulator.

Thanks just wanted to make sure before I bought one. Could have asked one of the guys in the phone shop but don't trust those salespeople. Cheers.

You should develop using the emulator.

Ya I was thinking of using an actual android phone as well
as using the emulator. Thought the end user device would be
good to use in combination with the emulator.
