Hi people any one with a medical background fancy a challenge?

I could do with some advice on an assignment I am struggling with for college and need to get in soon!!

Tina was 15 years old and she had been gaining weight over the past several years. She had been diagnosed with asthma and eczema at 7 years old and it appeared to be getting worse. Her demeanour had changed recently; she had become quite moody and had been complaining of dehydration and poor sleeping patterns. Her mother thought that this was most likely due to her severe acne and her recent weight gain. However, during an indoor school sports session Tina collapsed and had to be taken to her local GP for examination. Her mother felt she had become unwell due to the changes in her sleeping pattern and dehydration, although her GP thought it was more serious.

Tina was admitted to hospital the dayafter she had collapsed at school. She told the doctor abouther weight gain, blurred vision and fatigue over the last few months. Theclinician questioned Tina abouther eating habits. Her mother insisted that Tina’s appetite was normaland that an underlyingdisorder was the principal causeof her collapse atschool.

Tina had a number of biochemical tests performed upon admission to hospital. Belowaresome of the blood parameters, measured in a fasting morning sample:

    Biochemical Test
    Result
    Reference Range
    Sodium
    155 mmol/l
    135 – 145 mmol/l
    Creatinine
    90 µmol/l
    60 - 120 µmol/l
    Urea
    7.1 mmol/l
    3.3 – 6.7 mmol/l
    TSH
    135 mU/L
    0.3 – 4.0 mU/L
    AST
    60 IU/l
    10 - 50 IU/l
    Albumin
    42 g/l
    36 - 60 g/l
    Cortisol
    59 nmol/l
    140 - 690 nmol/l
    ACTH
    15 pmol/l
    < 26 pmol/l
    Glucose
    7.8 mmol/l
    3.6 - 7.0 mmol/l
    Insulin
    20 pmol/l
    <20 pmol/l
    Haemoglobin
    9.5 g/dL
    12-16 g/dL

    Question 1:

Can you determine why Tina has been feeling unwell taking into account each of the biochemical findings? (250 words)

    Question 2:

Critically discuss what other tests should be carried out and what are t
he mechanisms underlying her problems? (500 words)

    Any thoughts ..?

    yeah

    Do your own homework.

It's extremely bad manners to ask for help on a question without at least explaining what you've tried.

When you hand up this assignment do have to sign it off as your own work ?

    And besides

There are just a few things to note when posting here

    First and foremost.......

THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL ADVICE BOARD.
    :p

How does one interpret the above tests? (I know, do you?)

What conditions would those results indicate?

If the results were marginally different, what conditions would those results indicate?

What alternative diagnoses could there be? How would you test for them?

How do you interpret the other evidence?
