This is a usual all over the country mate. I bet you he didn't even give you eye contact or a wave. Just stared ahead, pretending not to notice.

I would have a bigger complaint to make about your school if that is the sort of grammar and spelling they teach.

Given the situation outlined above the best course of action may be to contact Dublin Bus directly. It is possible to 'phone, e-mail or write.
    Contact details here:

    Hope this helps.

If there was passengers who were acting the maggot or known to do so on buses, maybe the driver wasn't going to take a chance with them.

But wouldn't someone have to be allowed on board before they could display such behaiour?

I've had many times I've stood at the bus stop money in hand wave and get ignored. Most of the time when there is a larger group of people and they are full/semi-full/saying they are full you might get them to stop to say the phantom 5 minute bus is right behind them.

I don't find any service to not stop when a hand is put out..unless it's full (the last full 102 was probably in the 19th century). It has saved many a traveller by putting my hand to stop as drivers have told me that they were about to plough on since there were no hands out..

My last Bus journey in the South of France, from Cannes to Nice (€2 return ) was delayed by a fete in a small town en-route....as soon as the driver cleared the obstruction,we proceeded at full tilt, stopping only when the bell was rung....It was interesting to see the variety of walking-sticks,fists and other items being waved from Bus-Stops as the bus shot past !!!!

    I wonder does France have a boards.fr...?????

That isn't restricted to adolescents of course, Mr. Smart. As an evening inbound 46A/145/9/4/13/11 past some of our institutions of higher education would no doubt show..

It happens more often than you think. Probably every second week in Galway to myself personally and yes I do wave, wait right by the bus stop. Also if there is 10 people standing at a bus stop they aren't there to congregate for no reason. I consider any bus driver who plays the ignorance card on that one be challenged.

They don't show it any more since the 145/39a/46a/47 refuse to stop anywhere between stillorgan and donnybrook after 10pm, regardless of who is looking to get on.

The Stillorgan Road situation has,in true Irish style, only come about after several years ever worsening behaviour by a significant number of youths, some though not all attached to UCD.

The initial flashpoint was the UCD Belfield Flyover stop where eventually a serious physical assault on a DB Inspector contributed to the current situation.

The main issue for Dublin Bus and it's individual drivers is the reluctance of bothy the College Authorities and the Gardai to recognize the seriousnes of the situation and take pro-active action against the perpretators.

The technology currently exists to install dedicated CCTV monitoring at each stop in the affected location and to have resources available to tackle the Public Order issues which arise.

Busdrivers, continue to experience serious trouble both at the UCD stops and further along the Donnybrook Road once mobile.

The presence of Donnybrook Garda Station en route did allow some means of addressing the situation, usually succesfully, however Minister Shatter's Garda Station cutbacks now sees Donnybrook Garda Station closing at 1900 (?) nightly.

Since, currently, the official line is that no problem exists,it is therefore unlikely that that non-existant problem will be addressed...another uniquely Irish answer to an Irish (non) problem.

Yup....ye gets what ye pay for ;)

It's worth noting that with the Dec 1st Bus Fare increases the Taxi option may make more sense...I'd certainly be happy to see the Taxi industry getting more involved in the Anti-Social market (usually because Taxi Drivers are far less likely to tolerate the oul shytte foisted upon Busdrivers and their passengers by these ejits)

If you get a 7 or 8 seater taxi it's only 2.50 each into town from UCD, well worth the extra few cent tbh!

Absolutely, and if it allows those compliant fare-paying civilized ordinary customers to regain their bus services then it's money well spent.

I'd go so far as to recommend Dublin Bus and some enterprising Taxi company to pool their resources on this, although I suspect that eventually only Greyhound or Thorntons would be interested in the business.

There is a belief that behaviour of this sort has to be tolerated because it's necessary to carry them,I differ in this,as I feel the regularity of this Oikish behaviour has driven, and continues to drive "ordinaries" away from the bus service.

This eventually leads to Bus routes becoming sink-holes,with an ever increasing public perception that they are best avoided in order to facilitate the vastly inflated sense of self importance many of these Anti-Social Imbiciles possess.

A 7 seater Taxi coupled to a twin axle livestock trailer would be somewhat more appropriate for many of these people and would probably not even be noticed by them in their usual drunken incapacitated state.
