Any particular reason you're looking for group therapy rather than individual? Group therapy is often provided by the HSE mental health services for free.

    hi,
i realised this has not been replied too in over a year but again just asking as above does any one know about the group sessions held for those with depression?

I was checking out the ones Aware hold in Dublin city.

I have mild depression(if there's such a thing) and want to attend the sessions in hope they might give me some tips / guidance on how to deal with it when it comes down on me every few days.

    Thanks in advance

I've attended group therapy as an inpatient and really liked it, it suited me much better than individual therapy. My psychologist recommended Grow and I've a friend who attends one of their meetings regularly and finds it very beneficial. However, IIRC, Grow is run by peers rather than trained therapists, not that it is a bad thing, just something to bear in mind!

I attended the group sessions run by Aware - the one's I went to were in St Pats hospital, as it was closest. I found they were a little more intense than I needed - probably because they were in the hospital, so had a mix of inpatients and outpatients. But they're worth checking out.

Aware also did a CBT based life-skills thing - not therapy, but useful for tips and tricks for dealing with anxiety/stress/depression. I'd highly recommend them

I have enrolled for the CBT course.

I saw st Pats hold a group session but was a bit reluctant for stated reasons above.

    Thanks DM and WildRosie
