02 Octavia losing power.

Looking for some help or advice. I have a 1.4 petrol (BCA engine) skoda octavia, with 114,000 miles (approx) on the clock. For the last year or so the car loses power on a particular stretch of the road. It feels like I'm suddenly trying to tow a house! On one or two occasions it actually cut out. I've had a diagnostic check done (no problems recorded) and had the fuel filter replaced.
I recently had a lot of work done to the engine ( fan belt partially broke and whipped under the timing belt, lifted it and damaged valves). This work hasn't had any change on the problem. Can anyone suggest what might be happening?
    Thanks

Could it be an intermittent coil problem. The coils are well known as a problem on them.

I've had coil problems before, and all have been changed at some point. You normally get an engine management light showing too, but I'll look into it. Thanks for the reply.

Have you checked to see if one of the brakes is sticking?

Never thought of the brakes, any idea why it might be only on a particular stretch of road though?
