My wife said she will get me new headset for Xmas this year( as I old ones broke and she is sick of the noise). I had the Tritton Detonator Xbox 360 Stereo Headset but as she is paying I what to up grade to surround sound one. Which of the below would be the best. I use for COD and BO2.

    1. Tritton AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Gaming Headset
    2. Tritton Pro+ Dolby 5.1 Headset.
    3. Tritton 720+ PS3/360 Headset

Or is there better ones in and around the €180, would love the A40 Wireless System ASTRO but she will not go over the €180.

I don't see the need to pay that much when something like the X12's are perfect. Unless you really want wireless of course.

Having said that, I bought a wireless headset, Rude Primal Gaming, for €90 and they're fucking crap. Had them about 2 weeks before going back to Turtle Beach

I wouldn't know a huge amount on the surround sound side of things, maybe someone else like Yimrag could shed some light but here's the link to Turtle Beach headsets - Link.

Personally, I'd only ever choose this brand.

My TurtleBeach PX21's broke there about 20 minutes ago. There's only sound coming out of 1 ear so I'm also in the market for a headset.

I was looking at these. Heard good things about them.

My brothers went the same after a couple of months. I wouldn't touch turtlebeach myself. Overpriced and poorly build.

I think I fixed them actually. Just had to ram the wire back into the earpiece and wiggle it around.Hopefully it stays but it's still pretty loose.

I have these http://www.turtlebeach.com/products/call-of-duty-headsets/mw3-ear-force-delta.aspx I would have recommended them in MW3 but BO2 you can get away with anything, as you can't hear a thing tbh.

Personally I'd stay away from trittons , there is a known issue with the cable connecting to the joypad, its happened my last 3 tritton headsets.

Surround sound headphones are a fallacy, it's a marketing gimmick pure and simple. If you can forgo the incorporated microphone that headsets have I'd look at getting a set of headphones and a separate mic. You can get headphones that are far better sounding and much more versatile and cheaper than headsets.

In the CoD series the only game where I needed and appreciated a good headphone was mw2 using sit rep pro. You could hear enemy footsteps 20m away and it was a major advantage to use open headphones which give more of an area to hear enemies. Unfortunately that's the only time. I've only sampled a bit of Bops2 online but trying to soundwhore enemy footsteps is impossible. It was much the same in Bops and even with all the sound patches treyarch released it was dire. It's a sad fact that many fps games have woeful sound like above or sound issues like BF3.

If you want a wireless headphone look at the sennheiser rs range. Cossax got one of these.
If you want something that's portable, robust, has deep bass and isolates well; sennheiser hd-25 i.
If you want something that maximises the range at which you can hear footsteps in mw2 and minimises bass but doesn't isolate well; audio technica ath-ad700.
If you want something cheap but doubles as a headphone; superlux 668b (not too bassy and open), creative aurvana live! (good for music), jvc ha-m750 (folds & portable).

    Edit:

Those logitech seem to have a usb connection and probably won't work with an xbox as some pc headsets have software to install.

    Hi

Thanks for that good guide, i had a look and like the sound of the audio technica ath-ad700 and the sennheiser hd-25 i, so for it to have a mic so i can play online and talk what would i have to do, and does it cost much more.

My ones broke recently too so got the Triton Xbox 360 ones for €50. Great value and keeps the wife happy as she cant hear anything with me sitting next to her unlike the Turtle beach ones. Maybe she broke them.......:D

I have a pair of sennheiser x320 and they are fantastic imho. Only about 75 too!

EDIT: They are 99 in HN. You can find them on adverts cheaper :p

I use a cheap headset mic on my 360 I just have it around my neck. The only thing I've done is have the two sounds (party and game) set to come into my headphones.

BTW those two headphones are about as different as you can get, one is bassy closed and supraaural and the other is bass light, open and circumaural.

I picked a pair of Ampx Amplified Gaming Headset while abroad. Are they any good lads?

I still have my turtle beaches, picked those up for next to nothing though.

I own the Astros wireless A40 and I am very happy with them so far (although I might be upgrading them soon to the newer A50s we will see).

I also own (which are for sale in adverts btw and they have never been used!!!) a pair of Sharkoons 5.1 which were also excellent. The only two reasons why I decided to upgrade to the Astros was because the sharkoons were not wireless and also because my first sharkoons broke and I just couldnt wait for the new ones (replacement) to arrive so I bought the astros.

The sound on the sharkoon is crispier (higher high frequency tones), however, overall, the Astros are a much better heaset (better built quality, comfort, finish, reliability) but of course, they are much more expensive.

Im extremely happy with Turtle Beach headsets,

I know they are flimsey and prone to breaking but they are just above the rest imo

My housemate is a Tritton fanatic and I cant see the attraction we both took each others headsets whenever we bought new ones and where he likes the build quality and the apparent 'richer' sound of the tritton, I love the comfort and sound of the turtle beach, there is also no bias in this as we were willing to sort each other out with tritton or turtle beach should the other prefer so its not a case of backing what YOU buy

So my PX21's broke again. Looking for a headset that is good for listening to music aswell as gaming. My budget is around 80-100 euro. I don't need a microphone, just a good set of headphones. Preferably surround sound but not essential.

    Any recommendations?
